Carnegie Mellon University School of Computer Science Visits GSST
On 30 March, Professor Andrew W. Moore (Dean, School of Computer Science (SCS), Carnegie Mellon University (CMU)), Professor Philip L. Lehman (Associate Dean for Advancement, SCS, CMU) and Mimi Fairman (Director, International Development, CMU) visited the Graduate School at Shenzhen, Tsinghua University (GSST). XIA Guangzhi (Associate Dean, GSST), Professor LIAO Qingmin (Head of the Division of Information Science and Technology, GSST), YUAN Chun (Associate Research Fellow, Division of Information Science and Technology, GSST) and MA Zhenyi (Director, External Relations Office, GSST) received the visitors.
XIA Guangzhi opened the meeting with a brief overview of GSST, particularly emphasizing current global projects as well as those in the planning stages. He noted GSST’s long partnership with CMU and expressed his hope that the two universities will establish more connections in faculty and student exchange.
Professor LIAO Qingmin gave an overview of the Division of Information Science and Technology, GSST, including its academic programs, faculty, and student development initiatives. YUAN Chun then presented on the Division’s computer applications track, describing its curriculum, current research, and career development resources.
Dean Moore introduced Carnegie Mellon’s School of Computer Science, during which he expressed the desire to further explore collaborative opportunities with GSST in research, faculty and student exchange.
After the meeting, the CMU visitors visited laboratories of the Division of Information Science and Technology, GSST.
